GLUCOSAMINE supplements commonly used to treat osteoarthritis may pose a risk to patients taking the anticoagulant warfarin, new reports reveal.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration has received 12 reports suggesting an interaction between glucosamine and warfarin, marketed under the brand names Coumadin, Jantoven, Marevan and Waran, the Adverse Drug Reactions Advisory Committee (ADRAC) reported in its latest bulletin.
ADRAC said the mechanism of the interaction was unknown.
